Parker Bodwell/Brodwell (1809-1884)

. Although as a boy in Marietta, he was urged to remain there and take up the study of medicine, yet he accepted a position on a steamboat on the Ohio River and later was an engineer on the ferry boats that plied between Cincinatti, Ohio and Covington and Newport, Kentucky. (Northeastern Historical Society, Vol 86, p. 461)

By 1850, Parker had changed the spelling of his name to Broadwell. The Newport, Kentucky directory lists Parker as river boat engineer living at 13 Mayo.
