Son of: Erastus 1776
Erastus was accidentally shot while out in search with a number of others of a man who had committed murder. The night was cool and he wore a long cloak as did the murderer-who was thought to be crazy. Stepping on a high rock, the bright moonlight revealed him to the party, who, thinking it was the murderer...fired. Hastening to him, to their sorrow and surprise, found they had mortally wounded a friend. He said as they reached him, "You have shot me boys, but it was a mistake, don't feel badly." He lived only a few hours. (Heather Robertson)
