Donald was a lawyer, civil engineer, and referee for the California Industrial Accident Commission. He was a student at the University of Nebraska 1917-18 but obtained his B. S. From Iowa State College in 1921, and his LL.B. and J. D. At Metropolitan University, Los Angeles in 1933.
Donald was an Instrumentman for the Iowa State Highway Commission in 1921. He was resident engineer in Clearwater, Florida for Parsons and Clapp of New York 1924-5. He was director of development for Belleair Estates in Clearwater in 1928 and clerk of the Superior Court of Los Angeles from 1931-1939. In 1933, Donald was admitted to the California State Bar and practiced in Los Angeles, first as deputy city public defender, then deputy district attourney from 1943 to 1945. He then became referee for the Industrial Accident Commission of California in February 1946. He was a registered civil engineer in the State of Iowa in 1925 and the state of California in 1933. He was a member of the California State Disciplinary Commission, Pasadena and Los Angeles County bar associations, California State Employee's Association (Vice President, Chapter 4), Los Angeles County Employees Association, Director and Vice President of the American Legion. Donald was a republican, a member of the Masons. He was Deputy Governor of Toastmasters International. He lived at 2310 Kenilworth Avenue, Los Angeles. Who's Who on the Pacific Coast, 1951, p. 70
