At age 25 Christopher enlisted April 27,1861 1st New Hampshire Infantry. He mustered in May 4, 1861 as Private in Company H. He mustered out August 9, 1861. Christopher again enlisted August 19, 1861 in the 4th New Hampshire Infantry, mustering as a Private in Company H. He was promoted to Corporal. Reenlisted and remustered Jan 1, 1864. Christopher was killed May 16, 1864 at Drewry's Bluff, Virginia.
