ALTON - Warren A. Bodwell Jr., 82, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on March 17, 2013.
He was born in Manchester on Oct. 26, 1930, the son of Warren A. and Doris (Curtis) Bodwell.
Warren earned his business management degree from University of New Hampshire. He served in the U.S. Army. Warren was joined in marriage with Ann Gordon in April of 1956. Warren joined the family insurance business, Lockwood, Bodwell & Covill, where he worked until his retirement in 1982.
He was a 50-year member and trustee emeritus of the Manchester Historical Society, a member and past president of the Alton Historical Society, and a very active member of the Manchester Rotary Club. Warren loved the great outdoors, his family and exploring back country roads and blue highways of his beloved New Hampshire.
He is survived by three loving children, Nancy M. Bodwell and her partner Jill Houser of Andover, Mass., Peter Bodwell and his fiance, Kelly VanDerveer of Lincoln and Sarah Caudill and her fiancˇ, Bill Barley of Buxton, N.C.; three grandchildren Dana Caudill, Emma Bodwell and Mei Houser; his faithful four -legged companion Molly; a sister-in-law Harriet Gordon of York Beach and her three sons and their families; and his long term care provider Patty Mercier of Alton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann in 2004, a sister, Nancy Bodwell and a brother Curtis Bodwell.
