Walter Scott Bodwell (1835-1891)

Son of: Dean 1814

Walter was listed in the Iowa Census of 1860 and 1870 in Amity Twp, Page County, Iowa. He enlisted in Company K, 4th Iowa Regular Infantry on 10 Sep 1861. He mustered out at Jonesboro Ga on 4 Sept 1864. He is listed as Regimental Historian, and a member of the force that fought at the battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas.

Priv. WALTER S. BODWELL, 31 Aug. 1861; wounded severely in the leg at Pea Ridge, Arkansas. The 4th. Iowa Regiment came home on veteran furlough 26 Feb. 1864.  Returned in April 1864, and was in the campaign against Atlanta, and SHERMAN's march to the sea, and thence through the Carolinas to Washington and home.  The Regiment was mustered out at Louisville, Kentucky, on 24 Jul. 1865  
 

In Dec 1875 Walter filed for a disability pension.  In Jan 1895 Nancy filed for a widow’s pension.
