Granville White Bodwell (1837-1887)

Granville served as a 2nd Lieutenant and then a First Lieutenant in Company "I" of the Thirteenth New Jersey Infantry. Granville mustered in 25 Aug 1862 at Camp Frelinghuysen, Newark, N. J. and mustered out 8 Jun 1865. This unit saw action at the Battle of Antietam September 17, 1862 and went into action with the second attack. On 12 Sep 1862 the 13th New Jersey was added to the 3rd Brig, 1st Div, 12 Corps, and remained with the unit through the Battle of Chancellorsville May 1-5, 1863 and the Gettysburg Campaign.

Bodwell Terrace in Milburn, NJ was probably named after Granville Bodwell.
